With an Ecco Press cover sheet transmitting the set with the explanation that all the galleys of The Stonemason are gone. Ecco printed only 41 copies of the proof, a tiny number after the success of McCarthy's most recent novel, All the Pretty Horses. The letter is signed by Ecco's Director of Publicity and Marketing.
