Paula Gunn Allen, of Laguna-Sioux-Lebanese descent, is a Professor of Native American Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, and one of the foremost scholars of Native American literature in the country. In addition, she is a poet and novelist, and has edited award-winning collections of Native American women's writing. This is her second book, a collection of poems published by a small New Mexico publisher.
