Of a total edition of 500, of which 200 were hardcover, this is one of 50 hardcover copies numbered and signed by the author. Fine in a fine dust jacket. Elkin provides an introduction for the edition commenting on his early writing.

The uncorrected proof copy of this large collection of stories and prose poems, in the form of tall, bound galley sheets printed on rectos only. Stamped "Final Galley." A number of the galley pages are loose but all are present. Near fine in wrappers and signed by the author. Scarce, fragile format.
180. FARRELL, James T. Guillotine Party. NY: Vanguard (1935). A collection of short stories by the author of the Studs Lonigan trilogy. Near fine in a very good dust jacket, spine-darkened and internally tape-reinforced at extremities of spine. Signed by the author.
181. FAULKNER, William. Doctor Martino and Other Stories. NY: Smith & Haas, 1934. Faulkner's second collection of stories. This is the limited edition. One of 360 numbered copies signed by Faulkner. Spine cloth a bit sunned; a near fine copy, without the tissue dust jacket.
182. FAULKNER, William. Go Down, Moses and Other Stories. NY: Random House (1942). First edition, in later binding of rough maroon cloth, without top stain. Faulkner intended this as a novel, or sequence of related stories, and later editions removed the phrase "and other stories" from the title. Near fine in a very good, price-clipped dust jacket with a couple very small abrasions to the cover and modest edgewear. A nice copy of one of the most important books in the Faulkner canon, which includes perhaps his most frequently anthologized story, "The Bear." The various colored bindings of this title are considerably scarcer than the first issue black binding; Serendipity Books, in cataloguing the Petersen collection, estimated that the first issue was more common than all the later issues combined by a factor of 20 to 1, and identified this maroon binding as "extremely scarce."

The first issue of this collection, with "The Collected Stories of William Faulkner" stamped on the spine, a blue background behind the title on the title page and blue top edge stain. A near fine copy in a price-clipped dust jacket, slightly spine-faded and with some surface soiling and a couple of small scrapes on the rear panel, but still near fine. A very nice copy of an important collection, which includes seventeen previously uncollected stories.

The uncorrected proof copy of this posthumous collection of stories, edited and with an introduction by Jackson Bryer and John Kuehl. Photo-reproduced sheets from the printer's galleys, bound in plain card-stock wrappers with paper label and blue tape spine: clearly done in small, probably minuscule, quantities. Some tears and chipping to the tape spine, but still a very good copy of an extremely scarce Fitzgerald proof.
