Brodkey's first book, a collection of stories that had the literary world virtually on tenterhooks for the next three decades, eagerly awaiting his first novel, which wasn't published until 1991. Inscribed by the author "with great affection" in 1991. Faint offsetting to front flyleaf; else fine in a near fine dust jacket with light edge wear and a bit of rubbing to the folds but none of the spine-fading common to this title. An uncommon book signed, and a very nice copy.
