Ravan also fronted Ten Wheel Drive, an early psychedelic jazz fusion band, and was the first female producer hired by a major record label. She was often compared to Janis Joplin, and was the prototype female rock star, predating Chrissie Hynde, Joan Jett, Blondie, and Courtney Love.
