Publication File
1986-1988. Publication material pertaining to two of Martin's books: A Recent Martyr and The Consolation of Nature, and a photocopy of an essay. A Recent Martyr is represented by a press release, an author photo, and an author questionnaire, which for the most part refers to an enclosed C.V., but does add the following, when she is asked about avocations or hobbies: "I have no hobbies. This could be significant." The Consolation of Nature is represented by the publisher's type specifications and a photocopy of a letter from Martin with a list of people she would like to receive review copies, as well as suggesting cities for book signings. Lastly, there is a photocopy of the typescript of a 9-page essay here titled "Where Do Stories Come From," which was published, with many revisions, as "Waiting for the Story to Start" in The New York Times Book Review in 1988. The lot is fine. Martin's novel, Property, won the Orange Prize for Fiction, and her novel Mary Reilly was a Nebula Award and World Fantasy Award nominee, and the basis for a film. [#036714] $350

All books are first printings of first editions or first American editions unless otherwise noted.
