No Island Is An Island
Garden City, Doubleday, 1973. The author attempts to extrapolate the overdevelopment and land use problems on the island of Martha's Vineyard to the rest of the country. Signed by the author on a tipped-in leaf. Massachusetts Senator Edward Kennedy features prominently in the text and reviewed the book for the New York Times (May 20, 1973). Laid in is a typed note signed from Kennedy to Senator Edmund Muskie, transmitting this copy of the book, because of his "interest in the problems of the environment," adding, "The experience of this group of citizens may be valuable for similarly concerned people throughout the country." Offsetting to rear hinge; a near fine copy in a near fine, lightly rubbed dust jacket with one short edge tear at the lower front panel. [#035680] SOLD
