NY, St. Martin's/Thomas Dunne, (2015). The 2017 John Burroughs Medal winner. A novel about a 14 year-old boy and a pine marten, set on Oregon's Mt. Hood. This was the first work of fiction to win the John Burroughs Medal in the approximately 90-year history since the award's inception in 1926. (In 1928, the award was given to a book of poetry.) Doyle had won the John Burroughs Association's Essay Award in 2011 for "The Creature Beyond the Mountains." This copy is signed by Doyle, who died in May 2017, at the age of 60.
