The limited edition of this book by the "Godfather of Graffiti," who started painting New York City subway cars in 1973 and was prominently featured in Martha Cooper's and Henry Chalfant's landmark 1984 book Subway Art. In the 1980s, he began to also paint on canvas and show his work in galleries, and in group shows with such artists as Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Dondi, and others. This is Copy No. 9 of 100 numbered copies, with original cover art by SEEN: the 100 copies were laid out together and SEEN painted one large painting over all of them, with each cover being a unique portion of the whole picture.
