An ardent suffragist, Strange married and divorced three times (her second husband was John Barrymore) before partnering for the last decade of her life (1940-1950) with Margaret Wise Brown, author of Goodnight Moon. This copy is inscribed by Strange in the year of publication to Irma Wyckoff, secretary to editor Maxwell Perkins at Scribner's. A fine copy in a near fine dust jacket with rubbing to the edges.
