The recipient has also inscribed the book, notating its receipt. Ishill emigrated from Romania to the U.S. in 1909 and joined the Ferrer Colony, an anarchist intentional community established in 1915, which lasted for nearly 40 years. Having apprenticed to a printer before coming to the U.S., he established his own press, the Oriole Press, in New Jersey to publish anarchist and other related writings. The editions were typically very small, and he gave the works away to those who were interested or would preserve them for the future.
