PLIMPTON, George
The Curious Case of Sidd Finch
NY, Norton, (1987). Second printing of Plimpton's first novel, which is an expanded version of a story he published in Sports Illustrated magazine in an April Fool's Day issue, purporting to be nonfiction about a young superstar baseball pitcher who could throw a ball nearly twice as fast as any pitcher in the major leagues or in history. Inscribed by the author to Peter [Matthiessen], "with admiration and affection." Matthiessen is mentioned in the acknowledgements as having given Plimpton help with Siddhartha Finch's Buddhist religious background. Slight foxing; near fine in a fine dust jacket.
