James Jones
Boston, Twayne, (1981). One of the dedication copies of this critical study of Jones's fiction. Inscribed by Giles to Jones's widow, Gloria, and their children, Kaylie and Jamie: "In the hope that this reveals my respect and admiration for Jim and my affection for you." The book is dedicated to "Three Beautiful People: Wanda, Morgan, and Kaylie." Kaylie Jones is mentioned in Giles's Acknowledgments for her "rare kind of courage in talking about her father and taking me to places on the Island that evoked him because they had been special to him. She also took me to James Jones's grave." From the library of Peter Matthiessen; Jones and Matthiessen were friends, and lived nearby each other in eastern Long Island. Boards foxed; a very good copy, without dust jacket, presumably as issued. [#032297] SOLD
